︎︎︎    JUMP BACK TO APRIL ARTISTS

PROJECT STATEMENT

The works "Like Father Like Lightning" and "Father Daughter Speculative Stroll" aim to contextualize the dynamics between Parent of the Artist and the growth and changes in perspective as Amira ages, hitting parental milestones that her parents were already managing, with no children. They bring up the concepts of nature vs nurture, cultural memories, and in these imagined intervening a place to move into understanding and caring for black familial bonds. The works aims to go back in time and talk and question who her Father was when he was young and the same age in terms of being minors from different times.
